Fifth Annual Football Alumni Reunion

Sixth Annual Alumni Weekend in Miami:
Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots

Plan to attend the sixth annual Alumni Weekend in Miami from December 13-15. The experience includes a behind-the-scenes tour of Sun Life Stadium and a private alumni reception. You will watch the Miami Dolphins take on the New England Patriots, enjoying an unlimited game-day buffet, open bar with beer, wine, soda and water and access to the Club Level and multiple 50-inch plasma TV's to check out NFL action from around the league. UNH Names $40 Million Residence Hall for Joseph "Chick" E. Celentano Sr.

The University of New Haven will rename Soundview Hall, its newest and largest residence hall, in honor of Joseph "Chick" E. Celentano Sr. of West Haven. The building is being dedicated to Celentano in recognition of his contribution of a 2.8 acre parcel of commercial land on Boston Post Road directly across from the UNH campus in West Haven. The University also will award annual scholarships in Celentano's name to West Haven students attending UNH. Learn more about Chick Celentano.

Winter Olympics Possible Terrorist Target, ISVG Research Warns
A report completed by the Institute for the Study of Violent Groups (ISVG) at the University of New Haven, found that the Sochi region in the Black Sea area of Russia has endured more than 1,560 violent events in the last three years. Nearly 3,500 people have died. "The majority of these attacks have occurred within 500 miles of the site of the Olympic Games," said Rob Berntsson, a research analyst at ISVG who earned a master's degree from the national security program in the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences. Learn more about the study.
IP 101: What Every Engineer Needs to Know Before Entering the Workplace
The Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program will present a lecture by Frederic Tenney and Ramsaran Maharajh that will explore intellectual property as it is related to aspiring engineers. Topics will include patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks and employee IP agreements. Learn more about the lecture.
Business Center Discusses Customer Relations, Managing Employees, Brand
The University of New Haven's Center for Family Business will sponsor three programs this fall aimed at helping members improve employee relations and communication skills and focus on branding their businesses. The sessions are open to members of the center, which begins its 20th year this fall. Prospective members are permitted to attend if they contact Paul Sessions, director, at 203-932-7421. Lecture on the Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere
The Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program will present a lecture by Michael Zink that will present an overview of CASA's DCAS system architecture. This includes the sensing nodes, the communication infrastructure, and the central node, which hosts the Meteorological Command & Control (MC&C) architecture. In addition to the system architecture, he will give an overview on two CASA testbeds that are an instantiation of this architecture. Dr. Zink will conclude his presentation with an overview on new topics they are currently investigating in CASA. These topics include the tracking of low-flying aircraft in addition to weather, the integration of infrasound sensors, the application of cloud computing for on demand execution of weather prediction algorithms, and the usage of ultra-high bandwidth links to transmit time-series radar data in real time.
