Music Industry Giant to Speak at UNH on Oct. 23

Marc Reiter - manager of Metallica, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Josh Groban - to speak at UNH on October 23 at 3:30pm. The lecture, part of the Music Department's Master Speaker Lecture Series, will take place in University Theatre in Dodds Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

UNH Chargers vs. Southern Conn. State Owls

Cheer on the UNH Chargers as they take on cross-town rival the Southern Connecticut State University Owls on Friday, October 25. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Jess Dow Field at SCSU in New Haven. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children over 12 and seniors. Children under 12 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth the night of the game. More information

Sixth Annual Alumni Weekend in Miami:
Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots

Plan to attend the sixth annual Alumni Weekend in Miami from December 13-15. The experience includes a behind-the-scenes tour of Sun Life Stadium and a private alumni reception. You will watch the Miami Dolphins take on the New England Patriots and enjoy an unlimited game-day buffet, open bar with beer, wine, soda and water and access to the Club Level and multiple 50-inch plasma TV's to check out NFL action from around the league. Writers of Dick Van Dyke and Seinfeld to Discuss Their Craft at UNH Nov. 15

The UNH Theater Department will host a conversation featuring Bill Persky, a five-time Emmy Award-winning writer, who co-created "That Girl" and wrote many episodes of "The Dick Van Dyke Show," and Tom Leopold, a writer of many hit sitcoms, most notably "Seinfeld," "Cheers" and "Will & Grace" The public is invited to attend the free event at 8 p.m. at University Theater in Dodds Hall on the UNH main campus, 300 Boston Post Road. UNH to Offer Project Management Certificate Program in New London this October

The University of New Haven will offer its fourth annual certificate program in project management in New London beginning October 10. The program is also regularly offered each spring in West Haven. The 30-week, non-credit program is designed for local professionals looking to gain comprehensive training in project management, one of the fastest growing business disciplines. University of New Haven is First to Offer Course Leading to Certified Financial Crime Specialist Certification

Students enrolled in CJST 5530 "Investigating Financial Crimes" this fall at UNH are learning the legal, ethical and practical aptitudes necessary to become top-tier financial crime specialists. The groundbreaking UNH course uses the 340-page Certification Exam Study Manual and an online, on-demand course developed by the Association of Certified Financial Crime Specialists (ACFCS). UNH Professor Lists Top 10 Italians in History

Stephen J. Spignesi, a practitioner in residence in English at the University of New Haven and author of more than 55 books, including "The Italian 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Cultural, Scientific, and Political Figures Past and Present, says some of the 100 are not as well-known as the Sopranos, the Goodfellas and the Godfather, but their contributions to humankind have been critically important and lasting. University Dedicates John and Leona Gehring Hall

As the marching band played a rousing selection of songs, hundreds of students, faculty, staff, members of the Board of Governors and guests gathered around the Maxcy Quad on Friday, Sept. 20, to pay tribute to John '52 A.S. and Leona Gehring, who President Steve Kaplan said have "built a legacy at a place that makes a difference in the lives of individuals, in the lives of communities and in the life of this nation and on a global level as well. UNH Marine Sciences Center to be Housed in New Haven's Boathouse

The city of New Haven broke ground recently on The Boathouse at Canal Dock, where the University of New Haven will house its new Marine Sciences Center. The center is being constructed with generous gifts from Robert M. Lee '78 and Linda M. Hanaway '88 MBA. The two-story building, which will be housed on a floating 48,000-square-foot platform, will include boat storage on the first floor, and meeting rooms, offices and support facilities, including bathrooms and locker rooms on the upper floor. UNH will have state-of-the-art marine science research and teaching labs, a large wet lab, office space and public education space in the building. Learn more about marine biology at UNH.

Kathleen F. Buzbee '97 M.S.
While studying at UNH, Kathleen F. Buzbee '97 M.S. was a single mom with a teenage son. She's now responsible for directing the business valuation at the accounting firm Konowitz, Kahn & Company.
