Governor, Comedian Receive Honorary Degrees
The University's Spring Commencement was held on Sunday, May 13, at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford. In two separate ceremonies, 660 undergraduate and 321 graduate degree candidates reached a singular milestone in their educational journeys. Alumni Event at Citi Field
Spend Saturday, Aug. 25, at Citi Field for a 1:10 p.m. game between the New York Mets and Houston Astros. Enjoy the festivities with your family and fellow UNH alumni and friends. Also, plan to attend a pre-game reception in McFadden's Restaurant and Saloon located in the northeast corner of Citi Field. Fifth Annual Alumni Weekend in Miami
Plan to attend the Fifth Annual Alumni Weekend in Miami, scheduled for Nov. 30 to Dec. 2. The experience includes a Friday night welcome reception at Shula's Hotel and Golf Club, a Saturday behind-the-scenes tour of Sun Life Stadium and a private alumni reception held at the stadium, and on Sunday you will watch the Miami Dolphins take on the New England Patriots from your seats in Duffy's Hall of Champions, enjoying an unlimited game-day buffet, open bar with beer, wine, soda and water, access to the Club Level and 50-inch plasma TV's to check out NFL action from around the league. Transportation to and from the game will be provided. Sports Management Program Ranked Among Best Worldwide
The University's master's degree program in the management of sports industries has been ranked among the best in the world. The program was ranked fourth in United States by Sport Business International, an online and print sports news group. UNH is ranked behind Ohio University, the University of Northern Colorado and UMass. The program also was ranked number 13 in the world. Read more about this distinction.
Paving the Way for More Student Housing
Eight residential homes on the southwest corner of campus are being demolished to make way for new student housing that is expected to open in fall 2014. Read more about the preparations being made for a 350-bed residence hall in the New Haven Register article.
Student Research and Development Projects Showcased
Instead of relying on the marketplace to develop an application for her smart phone, Amber Higgins '12 took matters into her own hands. As part of her engineering senior design project, she designed an application to control the settings on her oven at home directly from her phone. Read about how hands-on research challenges students to apply what they have learned.
State’s First-Sixth Year Program in Instructional Technology Available in September for Educators
Beginning in September, UNH will offer the state’s first Sixth-Year Diploma in Instructional Technologies and Digital Media Literacy. The diploma, one academic level above a master’s degree, is designed for elementary and secondary school teachers who want advanced education but are not looking to leave classroom teaching. Online Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Coming in Fall
The University will begin offering an online master's degree in criminal justice this fall. The new online program will provide students with the convenience of studying online while providing the quality and in-depth course work of the traditional criminal justice master's degree program for which UNH is known. Anthony Scillia '79
Constructing a Career in Public Accounting
The day after Tony Scillia ’79 graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UNH, he stepped into public accounting and hasn’t looked back. Today he’s the partner-in-charge of the New England region at Marcum LLP Accountants and Advisors and serves on the executive committee of the international firm. Read more about Scillia and his roots at UNH, which include his father, who graduated in 1939 from New Haven YMCA Junior College, the precursor of UNH.

Dean Lombardi '82
Mastermind Behind 2012 Stanley Cup Champion LA Kings
On the evening of Monday, June 11, Dean Lombardi '82, president and general manager of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings since 2006, hoisted the Stanley Cup. The mastermind behind the 2012 Stanley Cup champions, Lombardi built a team that ended LA's 45-year drought in pursuit of the Cup.Learn more about Lombardi in a NJ.com article published before Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals, in which he talks about his career influences.
