Homecoming 2011 -- The Blueout: Be True, Wear Blue

Friday, Oct. 21: Homecoming Kickoff Happy Hour
You and a guest are invited to happy hour to officially kick off Homecoming weekend. Join us on Friday, Oct. 21, at 5 p.m. at the German Club, an authentic rathskellar located on the University's Main Campus. Enjoy your first drink courtesy of the UNH Alumni Association and complimentary hors d'oeuvres. Register today!
Friday, Oct. 21: Charger Huddle
The 2011 Charger Huddle will take place on Friday, Oct. 21, at Anthony's Ocean View in New Haven. Begin Homecoming weekend by celebrating Charger athletics. The cost of the event is $50 per person, which includes an open bar, a carving station and hearty hors d'oeuvres. Advanced ticket purchase is required. Friday, Oct. 21: Hockey Action at Edward Bennett Rink
The UNH Ice Hockey Club Team will take on Daniel Webster College on Friday, Oct. 21, and Roger Williams on Saturday, Oct. 22. Both games will be held at Edward L. Bennett Rink in West Haven. Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. For more information on these games or the UNH Ice Hockey Club, please email unhicehockey@newhaven.edu or the team's assistant captain and club treasurer, James Kiley.
Saturday, Oct. 22: Campus Tour
Come join the Admission Office on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. for an information session on the changes that have taken place on campus. After a 20-minute campus overview, you'll be led on a half-hour walking tour of the newly added facilities. Saturday, Oct. 22: Alumni Tailgate Party, Gameday
Celebrate Homecoming at the Alumni Tailgate Party at North Campus before the Chargers take on the Bentley University Falcons on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The party begins at 11 a.m. Enjoy chili, chowder, subs, chips, beer, wine and other refreshments while catching up with classmates.

Enjoy family-friendly entertainment, including the UNH Marching Band, a meet-and-greet with the Charger mascot, and inflatable games. Make sure your name is on the growing list of attendees.

Associate Professor Carmela Cuomo provides her introductory to marine biology students with a weekly, hands-on experience as they explore the different components of the marine environment in Long Island Sound. Interim College of Business Dean Allen Sack comments on football's dominance as intercollegiate athletic programs expand. Help us Reach the $500,000 Equipment Fund Challenge Match
The University's Board of Governors has created a $500,000 challenge initiative to support the Tagliatela College of Engineering Equipment Fund. UNH will use University funds to match every gift made to the initiative, dollar for dollar. The match will be granted once $500,000 is raised. The Board challenges alumni and friends to join them in making gifts to the Equipment Fund. Support the engineering equipment fund today.

Forensic Botanist Sets Up National Databank for Marijuana DNA
Heather Miller Coyle, a UNH forensic scientist and associate professor, is setting up a national databank for marijuana DNA that will permit law enforcement officials to track where the drug originated. Read more and watch television coverage of Coyle's study.

U-2 Pilot Says Fascination with Space, Flying Started Early

In 2004, Lt. Col. Merryl Tengesdal, '94 B.S., stepped close to her goal of becoming an astronaut when she became the first African-American woman to fly a U-2, high-altitude aircraft used for reconnaissance missions. Read Tengesdal's story.
