Dedication of the Henry C. Lee Institute Building
Hundreds of admirers turned out to cheer world-renowned forensic scientist Dr. Henry C. Lee and a host of dignitaries as they dedicated the new Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science building at the University of New Haven on Oct. 15. UNH President Steven H. Kaplan, Dr. Lee, Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro, Lt. Governor Michael Fedele and other luminaries spoke during the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the new state-of-the-art forensic teaching, research and training facility. Magnet School to Share $9.8 Million Grant
Engineering and Science University Magnet School (ESUMS), New Haven's new magnet school born out of a collaboration with UNH, will share a $9.8 million, three-year federal grant with three other magnet schools. ESUMS will add one grade each year until it serves grades six to 12. Read more.
Best Friends’ Pact Brings Veterans to UNH
In August of 2006, Nolan Epperson and Lucas Campbell were submerged in a nuclear submarine working 80-100 hours a week as sonar technicians. At the time, they had no idea they would both end up in Connecticut to begin full-time college careers at UNH. Read their story.

Football Moves Up in National, Regional Polls
The Chargers, 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the Northeast-10, jumped up in each poll after last weekend's 13-0 victory over American International College. The win set up this weekend's battle for the top spot in the NE-10 against Merrimack College (3-3 overall, 4-1 conference), and moved them up to fourth in the latest ECAC Lambert Meadowlands Division II Football Poll. The Chargers also caught more attention with nine votes in the American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches' Poll. Read more.

November 18: Alumna, VP of Human Resources at Olin Corporation Named 2010 Bartels Fellow
Dolores Ennico, who has been selected as the fall 2010 Bartels Fellow, will present a lecture on "Critical Skills Needed for Corporate Success" on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. in Dodds Theater. Ennico graduated from UNH in 1982 with an M.B.A. and currently holds the position of vice president for human resources at Olin Corporation. The lecture is free and open to the public. December 3-5: Third Annual Alumni Trip to Miami
Registration for the third-annual UNH Alumni Weekend in Miami is open. Spend Dec. 3-5 in sunny Florida and get a behind-the-scenes tour of Sun Life Stadium. Join us for a pre-game tailgate party, and then watch UNH alumnus and Miami Dolphins Head Coach, Tony Sparano ’84 B.S., take on the Cleveland Browns. Be Part of a Study on Job Attitudes and Personal Relationships; Receive a Gift Card
Dr. Amy Nicole Salvaggio, a faculty member in Psychology, is looking for volunteers to complete a survey on work and personal relationships. The survey will focus on organizational climate, job attitudes and romance at work. Participants will receive a $5 Target gift card. $600K Grant to Prepare Students for Realities of Industry
This fall, a $600,000 grant from the National Science Foundation is funding a three-year pioneering project known as "Collaborative Research: Improving Learning for Undergraduate Engineering Programs Using Finite Element Learning Modules." The funding will enable faculty within higher education to explore ways to integrate practical engineering applications, including finite element analysis into the undergraduate curriculum and prepare future generations of engineering graduates for the realities of industry. Tafoya Designated Director of Research for Lee College
William L. Tafoya was recently selected as the director of research at the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences. Tafoya has been a professor in the criminal justice department at UNH since 2002, and has an extensive research background in the field of criminal justice. Read more about Tafoya's appointment.
