Homecoming made its return to UNH on Saturday, Sept. 26 after a five-year absence. North Campus and Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium were a sea of blue, as alumni, students, faculty and friends reunited and celebrated the official dedication of the DellaCamera Stadium and a game-winning touchdown pass with just 21 seconds left in the game for the 23-16 UNH victory over Stonehill College.

Dec. 16, 2009: Alumni Holiday Party
Plan to celebrate the holidays with the UNH Alumni Association on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 6-9 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge in Bartels Hall, the Campus Center. It will be a Winter Wonderland complete with hors d'oeuvres, buffet dinner, open bar and live music.

Sept. 25, 2009, A Banner Day for UNH
Sept. 25, 2009 … an historic day at UNH with the ribbon cutting of Soundview Residence Hall and the ground breaking for the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. The day began at Soundview, the University’s first green residence hall, with a ribbon cutting, speeches and a plea to stay off the pesticide-free grass to aid in its growth. Guests then took the short walk to the Maxcy Hall parking lot for the ground breaking of the new 15,649 square-foot, $9.4 million Henry C. Lee Institute, which will include a Forensic Crisis Management Command Center, forensics and crime-scene technology learning center, and classrooms. At 13, Teen is Youngest Freshman Ever to Attend UNH
Maeda Hanafi is like any other 13-year-old girl – from rollerblading to computers – but every morning as her friends head off to middle school, Maeda heads to classes at UNH. Read more about Maeda.
An Outpouring of Thanks at Endowed Scholarship Luncheon
More than 39 donors of endowed scholarships, accompanied by the students who had been awarded the scholarships, were in attendance at the Annual Endowed Scholarship Luncheon on Oct. 7. This year, more than $285,000 was awarded from endowed scholarships to more than 130 deserving students. Read more about the luncheon.

Roominations Exhibit at Seton Gallery: Nov. 5-Dec. 3
The Seton Art Gallery will be the location from Nov. 5-Dec. 3 for “Roominations: Contemplating the Psyche’s Home,” a collaborative installation by the Women’s Caucus for Art – Connecticut. Read more about Roominations.
Theatre Program Presents “The Pillowman” Nov. 18-22
The theatre program will present a fall 2009 production of “The Pillowman” November 18-22 in Dodds Theatre on the UNH campus. Nominated for a 2005 Tony Award for Best Play and won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Play in 2003, The Pillowman was written by Martin McDonagh. Read more about the UNH production.

Two Free Engineering Lectures:
Global Warming and Intellectual Property Law
Don’t miss two free lectures as part of the Tagliatela College of Engineering’s fall 2009 Alvine Engineering Professional Effectiveness and Enrichment Program. On Nov. 4, Bill Mitch, Ph.D., associate professor at Yale University will speak on Global Warming and Water Shortages Crisis. Come hear Rafael Rosado, J.D., associate general counsel at Pratt & Whitney, on Nov. 17 hold a lecture entitled: “Intellectual Property: What Is It and Why Should an Engineer Care?” Both lectures are free and open to the public.

Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences News

Criminal Justice Ph.D. Program Coming to UNH
The Henry C. Lee College will offer a Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice beginning in the fall of 2010. Read more about this program, which is expected to draw both full-time traditional graduate students and part-time professionals.
