It’s been a long five years, but the wait is finally over. University of New Haven football has made its return to the gridiron. The tradition of Charger football continues with a new team, new coach, new field, new scoreboard, new marching band and more.

Be part of the excitement on Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Chargers play their 2009 home opener against Bentley University at 1 p.m. in the new Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium.

A week later, celebrate The Blueout: Homecoming 2009 and the dedication of DellaCamera Stadium when the Chargers play host to Stonehill College at 1 p.m.

We're "Setting the Gold Standard" on Friday, Oct. 2, as UNH's rivalry with Southern Connecitcut State University reignites. Wear your UNH Gold and cheer on the Chargers when they travel to SCSU for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Don't forget to stop by the alumni hospitality tent.


Sept. 19: UNH vs. Bentley University, Football Alumni Reunion, West Haven Community Day, Beatlemania

2009 Home Opener
The first home football Saturday of the year begins at 10 a.m. on North Campus. There will be a festive atmosphere with food and fun for all ages, including free bounce houses, cotton candy, face painting and tailgating. At 11:30 a.m., sample and vote for West Haven’s “best pizza.” Read more about West Haven Community Day.
Football Alumni Reunion
Many who are part of UNH football history will reunite to reminisce about the tradition of Charger football.
Beatlemania
Chargermania turns into Beatlemania Saturday evening. It may not be The Cavern Club in Liverpool, but from 7-9 p.m. in the Charger Gymnasium you can enjoy the hits of the Beatles performed by the national touring group, Beatlemania Again. Tickets for the general public are $20 and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds benefit WNHU 88.7 FM, Connecticut’s #1 college radio station. For more information, please call 203-479-8807.

Sept. 26: UNH vs. Stonehill College, The Blueout: Homecoming 2009, DellaCamera Stadium Dedication

Come Celebrate the First Homecoming since 2003
On Saturday, Sept. 26, join fellow alumni at the first homecoming since 2003 and the official dedication of the Chargers’ new home, the Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium. Parking lots open at 9 a.m. and the alumni festivities begin at 11 a.m. with a pre-game tailgate party that includes chili, chowder, sandwiches, chips, beer, wine, soda and water. Young Charger fans can enjoy various activities including a bounce house and a meet and greet with the Charger mascot. Listen to the live WNHU pre-game show and be led to DellaCamera Stadium by the new UNH Marching Band.

Oct. 2: UNH at Southern Connecticut State

Alumni Hospitality Tent; Put on Your Gold
We’re “Setting the Gold Standard” on Friday, Oct. 2 when the rivalry between the UNH Chargers and Southern Connecticut State University Owls reignites. Join fellow alumni for food and drinks under the UNH Alumni Hospitality tent as we cheer on the Chargers at 7 p.m. on the SCSU campus. The Alumni Hospitality tent, which opens one hour before kickoff, will be located next to the visitor section bleachers. Tickets to the game can be purchased that evening at Jess Dow Field. 2009 UNH Game Day Information

Single Game Ticket Information
Single game tickets can be purchased day of the game at the DellaCamera Stadium ticket window. Walk up ticket prices for all regular season games are $7 for adults and $4 for senior citizens, children under 12 and visiting students.
Parking Information
Game Day parking lots open at 9 a.m. and will close one hour after the game ends. Fans will be permitted to park for free on North Campus, Wade Street Parking Lot and Parking Lot 9/Pruden Street. Tailgating Information
Tailgating will be allowed in the parking lots.

The University will be enforcing the following tailgating policies and procedures for all UNH Charger home games, including Homecoming on Sept. 26, to ensure an enjoyable family, friendly atmosphere.


  • Propane and Charcoal grills are prohibited in the general parking area.
  • Pop-up tents are prohibited in the general parking area.
  • Fires built on the ground and open fire pit devices are prohibited in all areas.
  • Kegs are NOT allowed.
  • Pets are NOT allowed on University property.
  • NO glass containers are allowed; plastic cups and cans are allowed (please recycle or dispose of properly).
  • Dispose of all trash in trash receptacles located in tailgating areas or pack it out.
  • Alcohol is not permitted outside of the tailgating area.
  • The University of New Haven is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for visitors, students, coaches, spectators and the community at large. The use or possession of alcoholic beverages and the sale, delivery or service to individuals under age 21 is prohibited by the University and Connecticut state law.

Reserved Tailgating Spaces...Get Yours Today, They're Going Quickly
Reserved tailgating spaces are available for $15 per vehicle. Reserved spaces, which allow for one vehicle and small pop-up tent, are available on a first come, first served basis by calling 203-932-7017. All other spaces are considered general parking and free of charge. Reserve your tailgating space today. Spots are going quickly.
